My family and I spent 5 days over New Years in the self catering cottage at Ganora. Hester and JP immediately made us feel at home. Jp's fossil collection and fossil walk were superb, a fantastic glimpse into the pre-reptilian world captured in the Karoo rock formation. Hester's rock art walk was also superb, and reflects San and even colonial evidence of our human need to leave a marker, a trace of our existence. The farm has some unique rock art in the form of engravings which are not commonly found in this part of the world.

The farm has a range of activities beyond the historical and paleontological treasures, and we spent a lot of time walking through the beautiful Karoo landscape, swimming in the river in the canyon and simply chilling with a good book, a glass of wine and the colourful Karoo sunsets.

Hester and JP also offered advice and assistance on what to do and what to see in the Neiu Bethesda area, and always made time to accommodate our relentless queries.

Here are a couple who are doing fantastic work in preserving the long (360 million years) heritage of this area, educating and exposing visitors and school learners in groups, to this inspiring record of life.

Just as importantly they make your stay a delight with true Karoo hospitality.

We really enjoyed our stay. Will we be back? Without a doubt!
