Enjoy your stay there and go to the owl house, walk in the farm and enjoy the grilled lamb. We rented 3 rooms on the farm, very nice decoration and friendly people. Both our friends and ourselves very much enjoyed our stay. The dogs were also very friendly and walked with us around the farm.

We stayed there for one night to be close to Nieu-Bethesda, whose Owl House was on our bucket list. The friendly service, authentic Karoo farm experience and wonderful nature will bring us back despite the terrible roads.

Been regular visitors for the last ten years; always the same wonderful welcome. Easily our best farm stay experience in the Karoo. Spectacular views of Compassberg and surrounding mountains when you climb out of the gorge sheltering the farm. Plenty to explore over a few days if you like walking. Not just a stop over.

Wonderful and peaceful taking you back in time and how it must have felt before modernization. The lamb was cooked on an open fire in the dinning room and was delicious, I even skipped dessert as I had filled up on that wonderful lamb.Niue-Bethesda is a few km away and a must see little village, visit the Owl House and have a beer at the brewery!Returning time and again

Makes you feel really young

A very nice get away for a week-end on your farm. There is something very special about the Karoo farms that is very hard to explain to other people….You have to experience a Karoo farm atmosphere first before you understand the whole thing first. Just one thing that really stands out for me is drinking the fresh cold running water from the rivers to understand the real taste and the freshness.. this you cannot buy….

We recently visited Ganora Guest Farm for two days and stayed in one of the Bed and Breakfast Rooms. When we arrived we were welcomed by Hester and invited for drinks on the shady veranda. She explained what there is to do on the farm and invited us to join a bushman rock art tour later the afternoon.

We have been coming to Ganora Guest Farm for the past 8 years and have watched how Hester's nurturing of the accommodation and JP's oversight has made this part of the Karoo a home away from home.

My family and I spent 5 days over New Years in the self catering cottage at Ganora. Hester and JP immediately made us feel at home. Jp's fossil collection and fossil walk were superb, a fantastic glimpse into the pre-reptilian world captured in the Karoo rock formation. Hester's rock art walk was also superb, and reflects San and even colonial evidence of our human need to leave a marker, a trace of our existence.

February 17, 2013 We loved our time at Ganora. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The home cooked dinners were delicious. Such a treat! Hester and JP were wonderful hosts. The staff were very helpful and polite. JP's informal fossil lecture was fascinating. A really special experience! We'll be back.

January 2013 Run by a very dedicated couple, Hester and JP. Very comfortable rooms and a healthy, delicious breakfast before leaving the next day. It was interesting to have them share their passion about the fossils found in the area. I wish them lots of success and many happy returning guests!

Great Place to Stay
A wonderful farm in the heart of the Karoo. A great place to stop and rest on a long journey from Jozi to Plett. There is much to see on the farm, from a private fossil collection to bushman rock art. Stayed December 2012, traveled with family

Don't miss Ganora Guestfarm
Beautifully located in a remote valley the farm from Hester and Jan-Pieter offers surprising information. Ancient bushmen rockpaintings, million years of old fossils, a medicinal plant walk and not to forget the hospitaility and kitchen in this farm. AAAAA+++++

We were aware that the Nieu Bethesda festival was to go on that weekend and we found the Cape Town Waterfront Art college students - participants in the Festival - were also guests of Hester and JP on the Farm.

If you love the wide open spaces of the Karoo, if you are challenged by the paleontological relics which this place offers up, if you are moved by the paintings done by the first people of this land.

One of our favorite stops in that area, however, was at Ganora Farm, dating back to the mid-1700’s, situated in the foothills of the majestic Snow Berg Range.
