Ian Meaker of IMB Adventure Motorcycle Tours, in Port Elizabeth, organises a yearly tour to raise funds for a specific person who needs an artificial limb.  This year they chose Janecke Schuin, 10,  from Uitenhage who lost her leg in a freak accident.  Her determination to carry on with life and trying to get back to playing sport earned her the nick name"ystermeisie" (Iron girl).  Most medical funds do not pay towards artificail limbs, neither did hers.

She has had financial donations with which she could receive her first artificial limb some months ago.  But as her dream was to get back on the sports fields and play netball once again she needed another sport prosthetis which is made to absorb shock.Riaan Knight an Orthotist and prosthetist from PE helped make her dream come true.  He also takes part in the Yearly PE to De Aar IMB Adventure Motorcycle Tour.

Two days after receiving her sport prosthesis she did a 5km fun walk and shortly after that she was back at netball practice! Wonderful to see how she is enjoying it.

The PE to De Aar Rally tour of Ian Meaker is named after Paris to Dekar Rally!  We at Ganora are pleased to be part of this wonderful inisiative and to host themevery year on their last night before heading home.  Please contact Ian at ian@imbfs.co.za to book space for next year or if you would like to make a contribution to this worthy cause.
