Enthusiast Finds New Fossil

Thirteen year old Hanje Van Tonder, an avid fossil enthusiast, has discovered a fossil of a tree branch with visible leaf markings. After learning about the fossils found at Ganora and exploring the farm with JP, Hanje was able to search for fossils that have yet to be unearthed on one of the ridges overlooking the farmstead. With diligence and a sharp eye, he succeeded in recognizing his fossil amid the very rocky environment of the ridge. With his find, Hanje demonstrates the plethora of fossils around Ganora as well as the patience and passion required of successful fossil hunters. We hope Hanje finds many more in the years ahead.
