Karen studied at the institute of culinary arts and is qualified as a professional chef who has been working in the industry for the past 9 years. She has worked at Le Quartier Franscoise, Hunters Country House Pezula and Mount Gaze Hotel, to name but a few establishments.

After working on the canapé, starter, meat, fish and vegetable stations, she worked in America and specialized as a pastry chef.

Now Karen lives on a farm just outside of Middelburg and offers various cooking classes, as well as catering for small weddings and functions – up to 120 guests.

She is also involved in the training of coffee shop and guesthouse staff.

STAFF TRAINING

At the end of May Karen came to Ganora to give our staff: Max, Maria, Sara and Derek some training.  We were joined by Heidi & Chris from "Nina's @The Post Office" and some others from Nieu-Bethesda.  Over the two days we all learned a lot and enjoyed the tastings even more!!  We all had great fun and with Karen's expert advice & tips we will strive to give our guests only the best!
