From big to small – Ganora has them all. Birding at Ganora is an extraordinary experience as the 4 000 hectare property features birds of the Karoo as well as Eastern Regional specialties. Come ramble around the farm on our five marked hiking trails and see what you can spot on the numerous dams. On the Canyon Walk you may see our pair of Verreaux’s Eagles at their nest on the rock face. You may also encounter their latest youngster, who is just learning to fly.
The rare Black Stork can also be seen on occasion; White Storks, Sacred and Hadeda Ibis, Hamerkops, and Grey Herons are much more common. There are 5 pairs of Blue Crane nesting at Ganora, and as members of the Sneeuberg Blue Crane Conservancy, we are part of the annual census of this iconic South African species.
